The Local Visibility Report

Stop guessing how findable you are

Every Premium listing gets a graded, plain-English audit of its local presence — what customers see, what AI assistants can read, how you stack up against the business down the street, and the three things worth fixing first.

How you're graded

Four letters, and the evidence behind each one

No opinions and no mystery score. Each area is graded by a fixed rubric applied identically to every business, and your overall grade is the average of the areas we could actually measure.

Reputation

Your Google star rating weighted against how many reviews you've actually earned — so a perfect five from three customers doesn't outrank a 4.7 from two hundred.

Competition

Where you sit on review count against every other business in your category in your city, expressed as a percentile rather than a vague claim about being popular.

Listing completeness

How much of your listing is genuinely filled in: photos, hours, description, price range, booking link, FAQ, and lead capture. Everything in this section is something you control.

Website health

A live check of the homepage you link to: HTTPS, page title, meta description, mobile viewport, structured data, whether your phone number appears, and whether your social profiles are linked.

The scale

Your overall grade is the average of the areas we could measure.

Page one

Your action plan, in three moves

The report opens with the short version: a written summary of where you stand and the three highest-impact things you can do about it, ranked. Not forty things to worry about — three, in order.

  • A plain-English summary of your overall standing, written for this report and this business
  • Three concrete recommendations, ordered by the difference they'll make
  • Every recommendation is something you can action yourself from your dashboard

Reputation and competition

How you look, and how you compare

Your rating on its own means nothing without context. This page puts your Google reputation next to the other businesses in your category — in your town and across the county — so you can see whether you're actually the obvious choice or just assume you are.

  • Your star rating and review count, with a histogram of how those stars are distributed
  • A ranked comparison table against your local peer group, by review count and by rating
  • Your change since the previous report, so progress is visible rather than remembered

Traffic sources and AI readiness

Where your visitors came from — including the AI ones

This is the page almost nobody else will show you. Visits to your listing are attributed by channel, so you can see how much of your traffic is arriving from AI assistants rather than traditional search — and separately, which AI crawlers read your listing directly.

  • Views and clicks broken out by channel: AI assistants, search engines, social, and direct
  • ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google, Bing, Facebook, and Instagram named individually
  • A separate count of AI crawler reads — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot hitting your listing page
  • An AI-readiness check on your own site: whether your robots.txt is blocking those crawlers

Includes AI assistant traffic and crawler activity

Most owners find out here that their own site is blocking the crawlers.

Your own website

Your website, audited

Your listing can be perfect and still lose the customer to a homepage that doesn't load cleanly. We run a best-effort audit of the site you link to and report exactly what it does and doesn't tell search engines about you.

  • HTTPS, reachability, page title, and meta description
  • Mobile viewport and a PageSpeed mobile score
  • Whether the homepage carries structured data at all
  • Whether your listed phone number actually appears on the page, and whether your social profiles are linked

The rest of the report

Five more pages behind the grades: what your listing is missing, what visitors did once they found it, and the arithmetic we used to arrive at every number on the page.

Completeness

What's filled in, and what isn't

A checklist of your listing scored as a percentage, with the specific fields that are still empty called out by name.

Engagement

What visitors did on your listing

Listing views and the actions they led to — calls, website clicks, direction requests, booking clicks, and messages — drawn as a funnel.

Spotlight and Growth Engine only

Spotlight performance

A receipt for the placement you're paying for, with its own denominators: times your card was seen, clicks it earned, and actions taken from it.

The rubric

How the grades are calculated

The exact arithmetic behind every letter. The same fixed rubric is applied to every report we issue — nothing on this page changes from one business to the next.

Methodology

How the numbers are measured

What each figure counts, where the data came from, and how to check it against a tool we don't control.

How often you get it

A report is only useful if it keeps coming

Each rebuild is compared against the last one, so you can see whether what you changed actually moved anything.

Premium
Your first report is generated once your listing is approved, then rebuilt every 90 days.
Spotlight
Rebuilt every 30 days, with an extra page reporting on the placement you're paying for.
Growth Engine
Everything Spotlight gets, plus a hands-on profile refresh each quarter — I read the report and do the work it asks for.

Numbers you can check

You never have to take our word for it

  • Every website click we send carries a tracking tag, so it appears in your own Google Analytics as centralcoastdirectory / referral
  • The rubric page shows the exact arithmetic behind every letter grade
  • Google-derived sections are marked “not measured” rather than guessed at when we can't verify your Google listing
  • Ratings are withheld rather than shown stale if we haven't been able to re-sync them

Find out where you actually stand

The report comes with every Premium listing. If you'd rather someone read it and do the work for you, that's The Growth Engine Program.
